“The Mystery of the Girl From Ipanema”
This New Year’s Day! Catch the premiere of “The Mystery of the Girl from Ipanema” by Maury Rosenberg, Bill Tiberio and Rick McRae.
Mysteriously, few people know that this beautifully haunting Bossa Nova, composed in the 60s, was based on an actual person. "The Girl from Ipanema" refers to Helô Pinheiro, a real Brazilian teenager who inspired the famous song as she walked to the beach. Still, Astrud Gilberto was the singer whose voice made the song a global hit, launching her career and popularizing bossa nova worldwide. This wonderful piece of music continues to stand the test of time as one of the greatest Bossa Novas ever written
